Hello everyone! I hope I am posting on the correct subreddit. If not, please feel free to redirect me.
I’ve worked at the same company since I was an intern a few years ago. I am now employed. We’re a relatively small company and we all get along very well. Since I am the only “young” person (I am 24) here, I am the only one actively using social media. Today, the CEO offered me a position in digital marketing which I would love to take, but I have no current knowledge. Luckily, I am able to “start slow”.
I am currently aside from my regular work, producing short, amateur video content for them that gets posted on their Facebook page and Youtube. I’ve learned to like producing video content (filming&editing) and would like to do that in the future. I would also like to make content for their other social media platforms, since I am a creative person.
In a few years, I see myself more as a content creator who works remotely. I am interested in digital marketing, as that is what’s going to help me market myself/my small business one day.
Any advice on what to focus on – which area of digital marketing would suit me best? I am looking for free online courses I could take that could get me started. Of course I am also looking to get a certificate. As far as I know these come after you complete paid courses, but the problem is, there are so many of these available that I don’t know which are trustworthy. Since I want to work remotely and one day offer my services to different organisations, I would prefer to invest in a certificate that is going to be valid both in USA and Europe.
I would be super grateful if some of you could point me in the right direction or give me some advice.
