Hello there people!
I have been away from marketing for about 5-6 years now. Had to change jobs for a little while to situate me in another country, but now I’m back.
I recently started working for a company that works in the technology sector and has (through a variety of projects and administration whims) created a number of “products.” I quote because none of them are thought through and none of them are total/marketable products. Yet, the team is really pushing to find ways of selling them as they are (“they are ready” after all). They also want to promote their SaaS capacity when they have done nothing like this before, just because they are convinced they already did it to develop said “products.”
I have been given not only the responsibility to spearhead their marketing efforts starting with a marketing plan. And here is my question… I have been given no budget, I am given incomplete products and services, at times I am given no authority over anything (“we can’t do this” or “we have never done this, we won’t do it now”), and I am now asked to provide a marketing plan with no prior marketing information (since there is none). What kind of marketing plan should I deliver to them?
Although I have been faced with this issue in the past (much younger, much greener at the time), I think I’m either looking for others who go through it to normalize it and convince myself to push through or hear an opinion I haven’t heard yet.
This came out to be longer than I thought, thanks for reading!
