After getting my BSc in Economics (4-year degree) and a Master’s Degree in Marketing Management (1-year degree) I’ve been working in Marketing for 2 and a half years as a Product Marketing Manager in a B2B IT Global Company. Since I found it interesting and a career that I would follow I feel like I need to get some sort of hard skills. I mean, my studies gave me some bases about how the market and consumers work and some quantitative and methodic ways to think, but in the end, I don’t really know how to use any tool or specific software that will help me in my job. For example my brother who is working on the IT sector he knows some programming languages, tangible tools that allow you to do something, and that does not have any university degree. Also, he has certificates that prove that and they fill a very well gap in his resume.
In my case, my position is strategic. I learnt how the IT market work in the sort of solution and product I have in my portfolio but in the end, I dont’ use any specific tool except for Excel and Power Point.
I’d like to increase those hard skills, however I don’t know where to begin. I know that nowadays the whole topic of Digital Marketing is very much on everyone’s lips. I work hand to hand with that department when launching campaigns to obtain leads, and I know they use tools such as Google Trends, Google Analytics, and so on. However, I would like to get some input from you in which tools do you recommend for every marketer in these days to be proficiency.
Note that even though I work in Product Marketing, I’m open to work in other roles such as Digital Marketing. I worked quite closely with this departmaent and I found quite interesting everything related to using the digital world to get leads and expand your brand awareness.
So in the end, I would like to know from you which tools and softwares do you use in your day-to-day and which do you recommend me to get.
